These terms apply to all tournaments and events offered in the Wengla app (Google Play Store and Apple App Store) under "Tournaments & Events". By registering for a tournament in the app you accept these terms. A short version is shown in the app under "Rules & Procedure"; in case of doubt, this page prevails. This English version is provided for convenience; the German version is legally binding.

The tournaments are not affiliated with Apple, Google or the operators of the online services used. Apple and Google are not sponsors and are not involved in running the tournaments in any way.
2. Tournaments and dates
Wengla runs the following recurring tournaments:
- Continental tournaments (Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter Tournament): once per quarter per continent, on the first Sunday of the middle month of each quarter.
- Easter Tournament and Christmas Tournament: once a year per continent.
- Year-End Final: worldwide, on the second Sunday in December. Open to the eight best players of the preceding tournaments.
- World Championship: worldwide, on the last Sunday in January. Open to the eight best players of the Year-End Final.
All tournaments start at 3:00 pm local time of the respective continent. Exact dates, the registration deadline and a countdown are shown in the app under "Tournaments & Events". The dates shown there are authoritative.
3. Eligibility
- Anyone who has installed the Wengla app and has a player account can take part. No separate account or email address is required.
- Registration requires at least 20 games played (offline or online) and a balance of at least 20,000 Wengs to unlock the tournament area.
- The app's age rating in the respective store applies. Minors need the consent of a parent or guardian.
- Only one entry per person and tournament is allowed. Using multiple accounts, automated tools, modified app versions or collusion to the detriment of other players leads to disqualification.
- viewmedia staff and their relatives may play but are excluded from prizes.
4. Registration and withdrawal
- Registration takes place exclusively in the app via the "Register" button of the respective tournament. Registration is possible until 7 days before the tournament starts and is linked to your player account.
- You can withdraw in the app at any time until the registration deadline.
- There is no entitlement to participate. We may reject registrations in case of violations of these terms.
- If you wish, the app reminds you with a local notification 24 hours and 1 hour before the start. This requires notification permission on your device.
5. Costs
There is no entry fee. As in every Wengla online game, you need Wengcoins on your account to sit down at an online table; you get Wengcoins for free from the wheel of fortune or optionally in the shop. A purchase is not required to take part and does not improve your chances of winning. No further costs arise; data charges of your mobile or internet provider apply.
6. Format and rules
- Tournaments are played as a knockout at tables of up to four players. A single remaining player receives a bye.
- At each table one game under the normal Wengla rules is played (usually 5 to 20 minutes). Every 5 rounds the stakes rise by 1 Weng so that no game lasts forever.
- The best two of each table advance. The final is played one on one.
- From 256 participants the field is split into parallel divisions of equal size; each division plays its own knockout. The division winners then play the grand final for the overall title. Prizes are awarded per division; the overall winner additionally receives the grand prize.
- Each round has a 30-minute time slot. Anyone who does not show up at their table within the first 5 minutes is eliminated; if no opponent shows up, the present player advances without playing.
- Ties are broken first by the number of cards won, then by lot.
- The Wengla game rules (pairs, trios, runs, jokers, the WENGLA call) apply unchanged; they are described in the app under "Rules".
7. Results and fair play
The results of each table are reported to our server by the players' devices and reconciled there. In case of conflicting reports, the result confirmed by the majority of the table's players counts. We may review suspicious results and correct or void them afterwards. Anyone who cheats, manipulates results or insults or harasses other players is excluded from the current and future tournaments; prizes already credited may be revoked.
8. Prizes
- Prizes consist exclusively of virtual content: Wengcoins, Wengs and in-game extras (for example card designs or table designs).
- There are no cash prizes, no physical prizes and no payout. Virtual content has no monetary value, is not transferable and cannot be exchanged for money or other benefits.
- The prizes per tournament type are listed in the prize table on viewmedia.de and shown in the app before the tournament starts. Prizes are credited to the player account automatically, usually within 24 hours after the tournament ends.
- If a player account is deleted, unused prizes are forfeited as well.
9. Technology, connection and liability
- Participation requires a stable internet connection and a device running the current app version. Tournaments are only offered with the current app version.
- Connection drops, empty batteries, device or network problems on the player's side are the player's responsibility. A game is not replayed if a player leaves the table.
- We strive for uninterrupted operation but cannot guarantee the constant availability of the online services (servers, matchmaking).
- We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and for injury to life, body or health. Otherwise we are liable only for the breach of essential contractual obligations and limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this kind of contract. As participation is free and only virtual prizes are awarded, there is no claim to compensation for lost prizes.
10. Cancellation and changes
We may postpone, abort or cancel a tournament if technical problems, too few participants, manipulation attempts or other important reasons require it. Cancelled tournaments are marked as cancelled in the app. No claims arise from this. We may change these terms for future tournaments; the version published on this page at the time of registration applies.
11. Privacy
For the tournaments we process your player name, player ID, registration, table assignment and game results. This data is necessary to run the tournament (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and is stored on our game server (PlayFab, Microsoft). Player name and ranking may be shown to other participants and in leaderboards. See our privacy policy for details.
12. Final provisions
The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies. Legal recourse regarding the awarding of prizes is excluded. Should any provision of these terms be invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions remains unaffected. Questions about the tournaments: info@viewmedia.de.
